Neighborhood
Before 1939, the Mirów area was largely inhabited by Jews. From November 1940 to August 1942, most of it was located within the ghetto. In the immediate vicinity you can find many monuments testifying to the difficult history of this district.
The year 1945 is the symbolic beginning of a new Warsaw, which was built on the ruins of the metropolis destroyed during World War II. Three years later, when socialist realist tenement houses began to be built between Elektoralna and Świerczewskiego, as far as Orla and Zimna, the official name of the new housing estate became "Mirów" - from Hala Mirowskie (or rather Hala Mirowska, because the latter was rechristened Hala Gwardii).
